Press Releases | Macomb County-wide Officials Endorse Sandy Levin for Reelection in New District
ROSEVILLE -- Macomb County's six countywide elected officials today released the following statement endorsing U.S. Rep. Sander Levin's reelection in the new 9th Congressional District in 2012. The officials include County Executive Mark Hackel, County Treasurer Ted Wahby, County Prosecutor Eric Smith, County Public Works Commissioner Anthony Marrocco, County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh and County Sheriff Tony Wickersham.
"Rep. Sandy Levin is an effective representative for Macomb County communities and citizens in Congress. He is a leader on issues vital to our County: the auto industry, economic development including the defense corridor and small business incubator, higher education, worker retraining and water issues. In addition, he is actively using his position as the top Democrat on the Ways and Means Committee to protect Medicare, Social Security, and unemployment insurance for County residents. We support his candidacy in the new 9th district in which Macomb County makes up two-thirds of the district and look forward to continued collaborative efforts with Sandy and his office."
Said Rep. Levin: "I am grateful for the continued support of Macomb County's elected county-wide officials who each represent important aspects of the collaborative work we do together on issues important to Macomb County communities and residents. Macomb is at a critical and exciting juncture and I am determined to do everything that I can to help ensure we build the cars of the future, expand the defense corridor, increase local jobs and support worker retraining, restore Lake St. Clair and improve water quality in the region."
